Rangnang Museum

The Rangnang Museum has been built on the Rangnang Plain, a famous hunting ground in the period of Koguryo, as an educational base to hand down Rangnang civilization to posterity.

Rangnang civilization is based on the civilization of Ancient Joson, an ancient state of the Korean nation. It was created in the mid-western area of Korea centred on Pyongyang, ranging from the region south of the Chongchon River to the Ryesong River basin, between the third century BC and the first half of the fourth century AD.

The museum, covering an area of 6.3 hectares, consists of a history education section, a folk game section, a leisure area, etc.

Its two-storeyed main building has a floor space of 800 ㎡.

On display there are more than 2 000 pieces of remains representing Rangnang civilization. On display in the outdoor section are the relics of eight Rangnang tombs which showcase the architectural development in those days.

The exhibition hall is divided into sections of castle, tombs, weapons, saddlery and carriages, dressing tool and trinkets, containers, and sci-tech development.
