The Chollima Statue was unveiled on April the 15, Juche 50 (1961) on the occasion of the 49th birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung.

It depicts a worker holding high Red Letter from the Central Committee of the WPK and a farmer holding the rice sheaves in her arms; they are sitting on Chollima, a legendary horse, flying up to the sky with its wings unfurled.

The thematic and ideological content of the statue is Chollima Movement - a general line of the WPK.
