Sonjuk Bridge is a stone bridge over the Rogye Stream in Sonjuk-dong, Kaesong which was built in the period of Koryo. It is 8.35 m long and 3.36 m wide.
It was originally called Sonji Bridge. After Jong Mong Ju (1337-1392) was killed on the bridge by an assassin hired by the faction of Ri Song Gye, the first king of the feudal Joson dynasty (1392-1910), it became widely known.
Later, it was called Sonjuk Bridge as bamboo sprouted at the site of his death.
Phyochung Monuments, erected by the kings of the feudal Joson dynasty in praise of Jong Mong Ju’s loyalty, are located by Sonjuk Bridge.
