Mt. Kuwol is located in the northwest of South Hwanghae Province.
It is said its name is derived from its beautiful scenery aflame with the autumnal tints in September.
The mountain has many historical remains and relics.
There are the ruins of the Kuwolsan Fort, known as one of five major mountain forts in Hwanghae Province.
Today, Mt. Kuwol is a place for sightseeing and cultural recreation for the people.
