It is the biggest zoo in the DPRK.

  It carries out the mission as a science and cultural education organ of disseminating knowledge on animals, undertaking scientific research into protecting and proliferating them, and providing conditions for resting for the visitors.

  It was founded on April 30, Juche 48 (1959).

  It keeps and shows systematically 9 000 local and foreign animals of 760 species according to their systematic and physiological features.

  The zoo has a veterinary hospital furnished with high-end equipment.
