The mountain is a world-famous mountain situated in the northwestern part of Korea and in the middle of the Myohyang Mountains.

It is 375 square kilometers in area, 300-ri in circumference and 1 909 metres high.

It is called so in the sense that it is a beautiful mountain of a mystic shape and peculiar fragrance.

From olden times the Korean people have regarded it as one of the most famous mountains in Korea.

The mountain is widely known to the world for its beautiful scenery but also for the struggle of the Korean people against the foreign invaders associated with it as well as many pieces of national cultural heritage in it.

Now it is more widely known to the world as many grand monumental edifices in the era of the Workers' Party, including the International Friendship Exhibition House, have been built there.
