The Grand People’s Study House, a house for all the people to study, was inaugurated on April 1, Juche 71 (1982). It is a central storehouse of books in the DPRK.

It is a typical Korean-style building that is composed of ten different sections with 34 big and small Korean-style roofs and 600 rooms.

With the stackroom that can house 30 million books at the centre, there are 23 reading areas with 6 000 seats and 14 lecture rooms.
