It was the first theatre built in Pyongyang in spring of Juche 35 (1946) right after Korea’s liberation.
During the Fatherland Liberation War, it was destroyed due to the brutal bombing of the US imperialists. It was rebuilt in Juche 43 (1954). In Juche 95 (2006), the interior of the building, stage and lighting apparatuses were renovated to meet the requirements of the new century.
