Wonsan, the seat of Kangwon Province, is a port city with a long history, and a tour resort with many scenic spots including Songdowon. It is also a gateway to Mt. Kumgang.
The Songdowon International Children’s Union Camp in Wonsan accommodates a large number of students and children from Korea and many foreign countries every year.
Lake Sijung situated on the way from Wonsan to the Kumgang has a bathing resort, a boating ground, an angling site, entertainment facilities and mud treatment facilities.
The Kumgang is the world-famous celebrated mountain situated in the central part of the East Sea shore of Korea. It is 1 639 metres high, and covers a wide area of 530 ㎢, 60 km long from the north to the south and 40 km long from the east to the west.
The Kumgang, which has various natural beauty and unique scenery according to the regions, is divided into Outer Kumgang, Inner Kumgang and Sea Kumgang.
Outer Kumgang is characterized by masculine beauty while Inner Kumgang is featured by feminine beauty.
Sea Kumgang is really spectacular with its magnificent coastal scenery and elegant lake front scenery.
The Kumgang has many relics including the Phyohun Temple.
